A Clumber spaniel named Bruin has been crowned best in show at Crufts 2026.

This year's top dog fended off competition from just shy of 19,000 competitors, as dog lovers from all over the world descended on Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

Handled by owner Lee Cox, the Clumber spaniel was victorious in the Gundog group earlier in the show.

"I can't believe it," Cox said, as he was handed his rosette.

"It's just wonderful for this breed. He's the dog of a lifetime. He's really, really special. "

Cox and Bruin received the Kendall Memorial Trophy and a £200 cash prize after the spaniel was crowned as this year's champion.

A Tibetan mastiff called Viking, a Pembroke Welsh corgi named Hazel, and miniature schnauzer Spencer were among the six other pooches trying not to look too glum after missing out on the top prize.

After Bruin's victory, the dog's handler described him as "a bit of a diva" who "likes his own way".

Crufts is organised by the Royal Kennel Club.

Chief executive Jannine Edgar congratulated Cox and Bruin for "closing this year's competition with a truly outstanding win and for taking home the prestigious best in show title". "Their connection and skill in the ring have shone throughout, making them thoroughly deserving champions," she said
